     Tripterygium wisteria is a vine shrub of the genus Tripterygium in the Euonymus family. The height of the plant is 4 meters; the branchlets are brownish red; the leaves are elliptic to ovate, with acute or short acuminate apex, broad cuneate or rounded base, and finely serrated edges; the panicle cymes are narrow and small, the sepals are acute at the apex, and the petals Rectangular ovoid, with slightly eroded edges; samara oblong, with a large central fruit body and thin columnar seeds; flowering period is June-July; fruit period is July-August. The name "Thunder God's Vine" was first recorded in "Compendium of Materia Medica Supplements", and it was named after Lei Gong, the god of thunder in ancient mythology, to show its strong toxicity.
       Tripterygium wilfordii is produced in Taiwan, Fujian, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui and other provinces, and it is also distributed in Korea and Japan. It likes shady hillsides, forests or streams. It is suitable for cultivation in acidic, rich sandy soil or yellow loam with deep fertile soil. Tripterygium wisteria is listed as Least Concern (LC) on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. Most of the propagation methods are seeding and cutting propagation, and tissue culture seedlings and domestication of wild resources can also be used.
