   Houttuynia cordata (English name: HERBA HOUTTUYNIAE) is a herbal medicine included in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia. In summer, when the stems and leaves are lush, the flowers and spikes are often harvested, removed from impurities, and dried in the sun. The stem of Houttuynia cordata is flat cylindrical, twisted, 20-35cm long, 0.2-0.3cm in diameter; the surface is brownish-yellow, with several longitudinal ribs, obvious nodes, and residual fibrous roots on the lower nodes; brittle and easy to break. Alternate leaves, folded and shrunken, heart-shaped after flattening, 3-5cm long, 3-4.5cm wide; apex acuminate, entire; upper surface dark yellow-green to dark brown, lower surface gray-green or gray-brown; Petiole slender, base united with stipules to form a sheath. Spikes terminal, yellowish brown. Grinding has a fishy smell.
       Houttuynia cordata is pungent in taste, cold in nature, and returns to the lung meridian. It can clear heat and detoxify, reduce swelling and treat sores, diuresis and dehumidification, clear heat and stop dysentery, invigorate the stomach and eliminate food, and treat lung abscesses caused by excess heat, heat toxins, damp pathogens, disease heat, sores and swelling, hemorrhoids, blood in the stool, spleen and stomach heat accumulation, etc. .        Clinical application
