       1. Vitex unileaf is a small deciduous shrub. The whole plant is gray-white pilose. The main stem prostrates on the ground, often has adventitious roots on the nodes, the young branches are quadrangular, and the old branches are nearly round. Simple leaves opposite, with short stalk; leaf blade obovate, apex obtuse, base cuneate, entire, with hairs and glandular points on both sides. Terminal cymes arranged in panicles, calyx bell-shaped, corolla lavender, apex 5-lobed, stamens 4, ovary spherical. Drupe spherical, about 5-7mm in diameter, with persistent calyx. The flowering period is from July to August, and the fruiting period is from August to October.
       2. Vitex is a deciduous shrub, the whole plant has fragrance. Branchlets quadrangular, densely pubescent. Three compound leaves, opposite, leaflet ovate, long obovate or obovate oblong, apex blunt or short pointed, base cuneate, margin entire, surface green, back densely gray-white fluff. Inflorescence panicle terminal, peduncle densely covered with off-white tomentose; calyx bell-shaped, corolla lavender or blue-purple, 5-lobed, 2-lipped; stamens 4, ovary densely glandular. Drupe nearly round, black when ripe, calyx persistent. The flowering period is July, and the fruiting period is September to November.
