  Donghua is the dry flower bud of the Asteraceae plant Tussilago farfara L. It is a type of expectorant, cough relieving, and asthma relieving medicine, and is the dry flower bud of the Asteraceae plant Longdong. Collect and excavate flowers before they are unearthed in December or before the ground freezes, remove their stems and sediment, and dry them in the shade. Mainly produced in Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi, Gansu, Qinghai, and Shanxi. The characteristic characteristics of the medicinal part of winter flowers are long round rods. Single or 2-3 connected basal parts, with a length of 1-2.5cm and a diameter of 0.5-1cm. The upper end is thicker, the lower end tapers or has short stalks, and there are many scales like bracts on the outside. The outer surface of the bracts is purple red or light red, and the inner surface is densely covered with white flocculent hairs. Lightweight, with white fluff visible after tearing. It has a fragrant and slightly bitter taste. The best winter flowers are those with large, purple red, and no flower stalks.
