Details :
This product is a commonly used traditional Chinese medicine. "Shen Nong's Materia Medica" is listed as top grade. Li Shizhen said: "The one who defends is also defending. Its function is the most important in curing wind, so it is Ming Fangfeng." It is the dry root of perennial plants of Umbelliferae to prevent wind, all of which are wild. Also known as Tongyun, Huiyun, Huicao, Baizhi, Baizhong. Xifangfeng is a perennial herb with a single stem and fibrous brown-yellow coarse hairs on the root. The root leaves have long stalks, the base is slightly embracing, the leaves are triangular-ovate, and pinnately divided twice or nearly three times. Stem leaves are smaller, born on the leaf sheath. Compound umbels, terminal. Flowers white, double hanging fruit. Xifangfeng production and Inner Mongolia, Hebei. Xifangfeng, also known as Koufangfeng, is basically the same shape as Dongfangfeng, except that the top link is smaller, and there are more residual vascular bundles (commonly known as broom heads), the skin color is lighter, and there are more longitudinal wrinkles. The cross-section and smell are also the same as Dongfangfeng. The root is thick and straight, the skin is fine and waxy, the cross section is yellowish white, the center is yellow, and the chrysanthemum heart is the best. Xifangfeng is pungent, sweet and warm in nature and has sweating, antipyretic, analgesic, diuretic, and antiviral effects. Animal experiments have confirmed that it has moderate antipyretic and inhibitory effects on influenza virus. The function is to dispel wind, overcome dampness and relieve spasm. Indications for headache, dizziness, joint pain, and tetanus caused by exogenous wind-cold or rheumatism.

        Efficacy and function:
        1. It is used to treat exogenous wind-cold, wind-heat, joint and muscle rheumatism. The main function is to dispel wind (that is, to relieve the symptoms caused by wind evil through antipyretic, sweating, analgesic and other effects). The medicinal property of Fangfeng is relatively moderate, the sweating power is not as good as that of ephedra and cinnamon twigs, and the pungent nature and flavor are not as good as Qianghuo, so it is called "the emollient of wind medicine". It is often used together with Nepeta to treat colds. The difference in effect between Fangfeng and Nepeta is that Fangfeng is warmer than Nepeta, and can overcome dampness (that is, treat symptoms caused by dampness), so Fangfeng is used instead of Nepeta to treat rheumatic arthralgia. Such as exogenous cold evil, dampness and cold, aversion to cold and no sweating, it can be combined with Cangzhu, such as Haizang Shenshu Decoction.
       2. It is used to treat migraine. Combined with Angelica dahurica and Chuanxiong, it is especially suitable for those who are usually weak and cold but have headaches and dizziness, or those whose headaches are related to rheumatism.
       3. Used to relieve itching. It is often used together with nepeta and peppermint, and its effect is still in the category of expelling wind (traditional Chinese medicine believes that prurigo is also a "wind" syndrome).
       4. It is used to treat painful diarrhea (ie borborygmus, abdominal pain, and pain during diarrhea). Traditional Chinese medicine believes that this kind of pain diarrhea is caused by "wind" evil and "dampness stagnation" in the intestines, so there is Fangfeng combined with Atractylodes macrocephala in the treatment to achieve the purpose of expelling wind and dampness.

        Prescription example:
       1. Shenshu Decoction (Wang Haizang): Fangfeng 6g, Cangzhu 6g, Moxibustion Licorice 3g, Scallion 9g, Ginger 9g, decoct in water.
       2. Prescription for Tongxie ("Jingyue Quanshu"): Fangfeng 9g, Atractylodes macrocephala 9g, Baishao 12g, tangerine peel 6g, decocted in water.

The roots of fennel (commonly known as white horse meat) are often mixed in Xifangfeng. The roots are thick at the top and thin at the bottom. The outer skin is yellowish white, the cortex is hard, and there is a wooden core when broken, which can be split in two by hand from the upper part. Windproof can not be split, pay attention to identification.
